I’ve noticed how much aluminium scrap goes for recycling, lots of bits of odd sized sheet and curly scraps, so here’s the plan I’m going to build a small furnace to melt the scrap and cast it into things using the two part sand casting method, this is quick and relatively easy and safer than doing bronze casting that melts at a much higher temperature and tends to be shrouded in art myth! Also the aluminium can be machined when the workshop buys a milling machine (next summer, I’ve been promised!) I’ve started by making a Drag and Cope sand casting box, the top is the cope and the bottom the drag….
